How the daily allowance works
The allowance is counted in words, and a word is a run of characters with no spaces around it. Punctuation attached to a word stays part of that word.
Words are counted when you press Start, before any typing happens. A run you stop early still uses the words it set aside. If you start a 300-word run on the Free plan and stop it after ten words, that day's allowance is spent.
On the Free plan, when fewer than the requested words are left, Typist enters as many words as remain and tells you where it stopped. The allowance resets at 00:00 UTC, not 24 hours after your last run.
Upgrading
Checkout starts inside the extension, not on this site. Open the Typist side panel, sign in, and use the account row at the bottom of the panel. Payment is handled by Stripe; card details never reach us.
Pro becomes active when Stripe confirms the payment with our server, which usually takes a few seconds after checkout.
Cancelling
Manage or cancel the subscription from the same account row in the side panel, which opens the Stripe billing portal. See the refunds and cancellation policy for what happens to access after you cancel.
If you have just come back from checkout without finishing, nothing was charged.
